Thick and full eyebrows used to be something that women were embarrassed about. These days they have become desirable, in most parts thanks to celebrities such as Lily Collins and Cara Delevingne.
Whilst some people were blessed with naturally thick eyebrows, some aren’t so lucky. Whether it’s due to their blonde hair making them almost invisible, or years of over-plucking and over-tweezing leaving them permanently thinned out – some people would do anything to bring a little volume back to the brows.
If your eyebrows are on the thin side – there are a handful of things you can do to add some shape.
Tint the Brows
If your eyebrows are naturally light in colour, you can actually dye or tint them to add a little more definition. We suggest that you get this some professionally – DIY kits can often damage your eyebrows and leave you with even less hair.
The beauty technician will add a semi-permanent tint to your eyebrows (It’s best to have a test carried out first to make sure that you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients) which will be washed away after a certain period of time. This won’t last forever – you will have to get it done often.
Fill them in
Fake it until you make it is the answer for a lot of people! For those who are pretty skilled (or just not awful) at applying makeup, this could be a good solution for you. Using an eyebrow pencil or powder that is the same colour as your eyebrows (go darker if you are matching your brows to dark hair), you should apply in gentle strokes to your eyebrow hair so that it looks as natural as possible.
Eyebrow tattoos or “permanent makeup” is another option for those who suffer with sparse brows. It’s also a good solution for those who are tired of waxing and plucking – or just aren’t very good at it. It allows you the option of getting perfect brows – making them look fuller and in better shape.
This must only be carried out by a makeup professional – check references beforehand.
Eyebrow restoration is the process of extracting hair follicles from another area of the body (they usually choose the back of the head), and then placing them carefully into the eyebrow area. The doctor will have previously assessed the eyebrow area to work out how many hairs are needed to create a natural shape and look. Once you’ve had the procedure, your eyebrows should stay full and healthy for a lifetime!
