If the unfortunate happens and you’ve discovered that you have started to lose your hair, you may well feel uncomfortable in yourself and not confident. Hair restoration is the easiest way to treat hair loss, but if you don’t look after your hair correctly, it could become damaged and start to fall out. However, nature is always at hand! There are some great ingredients and products that can treat hair loss and even stimulate and maintain hair growth!

Use Products Free of Chemicals

One of the most important things to consider when buying hair products for hair loss is that they shouldn’t contain harsh chemicals. Even though it is a surfactant and lifts dirt, sodium laureth sulphate in high concentrations can cause skin and eye irritation. For someone who is suffering with hair loss, this should be avoided at all costs!

Look For Caffeine, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon or Tea Tree

These ingredients are fantastic for people who suffer with hair loss. When applied to the scalp, they boost circulation and stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles, which can promote hair growth. Products like Alpecin and Regaine® are both used to treat hair loss by either increasing blood circulation to the hair follicles or by slowing hair loss. If you are really adventurous, you could make your own hair mask using any of these ingredients and reap the benefits afterwards.

Make Sure To Use Natural Oils

There are a whole variety of natural oils that you can use in your hair. They are great for adding moisture to your hair so that it doesn’t become dry and thin – dry and thin hair can lead to even greater hair loss. Also keeping your scalp fully nourished is essential. So, when you look for conditioners or hair treatments, make sure to get ones that contain lots of coconut, olive or argan oil, as these natural oils have been used in hair treatments for thousands of years.

Don’t Use Too Much Selenium!

One nutrient that is often used for anti-dandruff treatments is selenium. You will tend to find selenium present in shampoos like Head & Shoulders, as the selenium compound kills the scalp fungus Malassezia, which causes the shedding of scalp fragments. Selenium is excellent for hair loss hair care because it acts as an anti-inflammatory, so it can reduce itching of the scalp and prevent further hair loss.

However, while trace amounts of selenium can be good for your hair, take extra care when using it, because too much can actually be harmful to the body. So only use products that have a small amount of it in. One useful tip is to try and find a hair care product that includes selenium and tea tree oil. The tea tee oil is anti-bacterial, so it will prevent the Malassezia fungus from returning.
